The Biggest Event of the Summer: FIFA World Cup Fan Festival

Boston is one of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ host cities, and the fan energy is unlike anything the city has seen in years. The FIFA Fan Festival™ runs at City Hall Plaza from June 12 - June 27 with live match broadcasts, a Cultural Showcase featuring local artists and musicians, appearances by FIFA legends, and the official mascots. It's free and open to the public — you just need to register for a pass in advance due to capacity limits.

This is once-in-a-generation energy for Boston. Whether you're a die-hard soccer fan or just want to be part of the atmosphere, City Hall Plaza is the place to be this month. Easily accessible from East Boston (Blue Line), South Boston, Dorchester, and the North End.

Free Concerts Every Friday in Back Bay

This is a Boston summer staple that a lot of people sleep on. The Concerts in the Courtyard series at the Boston Public Library's McKim Courtyard in Copley Square runs every Friday from noon to 1pm through August. The lineup rotates through jazz, classical, folk, and world music — all in one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in the city, and completely free.

It's the perfect midday Friday reset: a long lunch break, a first date, or just a reason to be outside in Back Bay. No tickets, no fuss.

Roxbury International Film Festival

One of the most celebrated independent film festivals in New England, the Roxbury International Film Festival is back June 19–27 with screenings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Hibernian Hall, and Arts Emerson. This festival sits right at the intersection of Dorchester, Roxbury, and the broader Boston arts scene — and it consistently programs some of the most compelling independent work around.

The Donna Summer Disco Party — A Dorchester Celebration

The South Shore's outdoor music scene kicks off in late June with two great options in Quincy. The Ruth Gordon Amphitheater Summer Concert Series opens on June 26 at 6pm with The Wolfpack — a free show on the Quincy waterfront that's low-key, local, and exactly what a summer evening should feel like. Then, starting July 13, the Summer Concerts on the Lawn series runs three consecutive Thursdays at 7pm on the front lawn of Thomas Crane Public Library. All free, all outdoors, all South Shore.

Braintree's Nelson Chin Summer Concert Series

Starting June 27, Braintree's beloved summer concert series returns to the Whalen Gazebo at Sunset Lake every Tuesday evening from 6 to 8pm through August. This is one of the South Shore's best-kept summer secrets — bring a blanket, grab dinner from nearby, and let the evening take over. The August 3rd show moves to Smith Beach in East Braintree for a waterfront change of scenery.
